Introduction to our Golf Course
Score Card and Hole by Hole Guide

At Middleton Hall Golf Club the development of junior golf has always been a high priority. The main aim is to encourage youngsters to become confident on the golf course, obtain a handicap and to play with other members both junior and adult. Emphasis is placed on getting enjoyment from golf and at the same time having fun.
To show our commitment, we have worked hard to gain the “GolfMark” award. This is a national scheme recognised by the EGU/ ELGA and Sport England, that identifies and recognises junior and beginner friendly golf facilities. To gain the award, Middleton Hall was assessed in the three main areas of coaching and playing, club environment, and child protection and duty of care.
Initially, youngsters without a handicap will be accompanied on the course by the junior organiser. This will enable the junior organiser to assess their ability and to get to know them. They will be introduced to other juniors of a similar ability through short fun competitions and taken out on the course to gain experience. Depending on their ability, a junior will start by being handicapped off a 45 on the ladies tees or 28 on the men’s tees. Occasionally they can be offered a 9 hole handicap to give them something to work at. As soon as they have obtained a 28 men’s handicap or 36 ladies handicap they can play in adult competitions.
Once a youngster becomes confident and develops a competitive edge, they are encouraged to enter open competitions at other golf courses to gain experience and meet many more like minded junior golfers.
Our two resident professionals are available to provide lessons and coaching. The superb driving range and other practice facilities are an asset to the junior member to develop their golfing skills. Frequently, juniors at Middleton Hall attain county coaching standard at all age ranges.
Through playing with members, juniors are encouraged to learn the correct etiquette, rules and standards of the game.
The juniors fixture list includes medals, stablefords, fun competitions and a Junior Captain’s Day together with team matches against other sections of the golf club. We also play in a county league.
Subject to course availability, juniors are permitted to play at any time and are positively encouraged and supported by other members of the club. The club professional and Junior Organiser will be working with some local schools and the Golf Foundation to help develop junior golf in West Norfolk. For further details of free group taster sessions or information on our junior programme contact one of our PGA professionals in the pro shop.
